Tania A. García
is the director of the Northeast Center for the Application
of Prevention Technologies, funded by the Center for Substance Abuse
Prevention. An experienced trainer and consultant, Ms. García's
areas of expertise include alcohol and other drug (AOD) and violence
prevention, HIV/AIDS awareness, and women's health promotion.
Ms. Garcia's work in communities in the United States, South America,
and the Caribbean has brought attention to AOD addiction, HIV/AIDS,
and violence and their impact on women, adolescents, and Latino
migrant populations. As coordinator of EDC's ongoing work for the
Pan American Health Organization, Ms. García has demonstrated
her cultural capacity and her ability to manage materials development,
knowledge application, and training activities designed to serve
a range of diverse communities. As associate center director for
EDC's Carlisle Center, Ms. García helped develop a comprehensive
model of assessment, planning, and evaluation of community-based
programs.
