The mission of Health and Human Development Programs (HHD) is
to create innovations that promote healthy human development
worldwide.
We conduct and synthesize research and guide practice toward
the most effective policies and programs that promote healthy
human development and reduce risk behaviors. We serve organizations
in education, public health, health care, social services, mental
health, and criminal justice at the international, national,
state, and local levels.
Our staff of more than 120 professionals have backgrounds in
public health, mental health, social science, education, media,
communications, and criminal justice. With a funding level of
almost $21 million and 60 active projects in 2005,
HHD has grown at an average annual rate of 12 percent over the
past decade. Governments, foundations, and corporations fund
the work we carry out on their behalf.
Education
Development Center (EDC), our parent organization, is a nonprofit
organization that has, for almost 50 years, worked with partners
around the globe to generate solutions to complex challenges
in education, health, and justice. EDC's overall funding level
in 2006 - 2007 was over $100 million.
