HHD works with partners
around the world to promote healthy human development and reduce
risk behaviors and disease. We specialize in identifying measures
that are effective in various global settings, synthesizing and
disseminating “best practices,” and building the capacity
of agencies to apply these practices. We work with organizations
at the international, regional, national, and local levels, providing
expertise in:
- Infectious diseases, especially HIV/STD prevention
- Tobacco, alcohol, and other drug prevention
- Reproductive health
- Nutrition
- Mental health
- Violence and injury prevention
HHD is the World Health Organization’s
(WHO) Collaborating Center to Promote Health Through Schools
and Communities, and works closely with WHO’s headquarters
in Geneva, Switzerland, and its regional offices. We also work globally
with Education International (the world’s largest teacher
trade union), UNESCO, UNICEF, the United Nations’ Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Inter-American Development Bank,
the World Bank, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Regionally, we work with the Pan American Health Organization and
countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, we work
with countries, United Nations’ agencies, international NGOs, and corporate sector in southern Africa
and Southeast Asia. At the national and local levels, we serve ministries
of health, education, and justice, and work with community groups,
schools, hospitals, social service and mental health agencies, police,
and the courts.
Please visit our Examples of Work page to see how we work with clients and partners to enable
them to meet their individual goals.
