New Resources on Promoting Mental Health in Schools
The International Alliance for
Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Schools (“Intercamhs”),
an international network of individuals and agencies dedicated
to promoting children’s mental health and well-being through
schools, recently released three new resources for professionals
interested in school-based mental health promotion:
- The Intercamhs
Resources Page provides a listing of downloadable articles and websites covering
the development, implementation and evaluation of curricula to
promote mental health in schools.
- The Intercamhs
September 2007 Newsletter (PDF)
describes several recent presentations conducted by Intercamhs
members focusing on topics such as capacity building in school
mental health and how to engage the education sector in promoting
mental health. It also includes information about upcoming
mental health conferences and Intercamhs’ involvement in
supporting Canadian mental health initiatives.
- The “Declaration
of the Consortium for Global Infant, Child, and Adolescent Mental
Health” presents a
series of recommendations put forth by members of the Consortium
about the steps needed to improve child and adolescent mental
health worldwide. Consortium
members include EDC’s Health and Human Development Programs,
Intercamhs,
the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
and Allied Professionals,
the International Society for Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychology,
the World Association for Infant Mental Health,
and the World Federation for Mental Health.
Visit the Intercamhs website, which is currently managed by HHD,
to access these and other materials or to learn how to become a member.
