Waltham, Mass.: EDC President and CEO Luther Luedtke has announced that Doryn Davis Chervin, DrPH, will join EDC as vice president and principal scientist in its Health and Human Development (HHD) division. With three decades of public health experience, Chervin will help lead business development initiatives to strengthen and expand EDC’s health portfolio. The division focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and early intervention and care with a focus on the social and economic challenges that create disparities in health.

Chervin is returning to EDC, where she worked on health promotion and education efforts from 1987 to 1996. Following that, she was a vice president at ICF International (formerly Macro International), where she oversaw programs in public health research and evaluation practice. Chervin recently served as senior health scientist and technical advisor for the Division of Adolescent and School Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She also served as executive vice president for SciMetrika, LLC, primarily overseeing the Social and Behavioral Sciences Division.

Chervin has directed more than 180 state and national program evaluations, policy assessments and evaluations, training projects, and research studies. She has worked with a variety of federal and national organizations, state departments of health and education, community coalitions, and foundations. Her work emphasizes eliminating health disparities and addressing social determinants of health. She has also focused on supporting adolescent and school health programs.

“We are so pleased to welcome Doryn Chervin back to EDC,” said Lydia O’Donnell, senior vice president and director of HHD. “Her strong research skills and energy will help ensure that our health and human development work continues to grow and expand around the world.”

Chervin will be based in EDC’s Washington, D.C., office.
