United States
Across the country—in all states, large and small cities, and rural communities—HHD’s training and support services, curricula and materials, and evaluation activities provide policymakers, practitioners, families, and young people with information and skill development opportunities that promote health, prevent major causes of illness and injury, and address underlying socioeconomic factors that affect well-being.
Our efforts involve many different sectors—public health, health care, social services, mental health, education, and criminal justice. Through collaborations with government, professional, and community organizations—and businesses within these sectors—HHD extends its reach and impact. These partnerships enable us to serve a broad range of highly diverse communities, strengthening the policies and programs that promote and protect the health of all people, especially those facing the challenges of poverty, lack of access to prevention and services, and discrimination.
In addition to HHD’s staff at EDC’s headquarters outside Boston, we have staff in EDC offices in New York, Washington, DC, California, Kansas, and Minnesota. Our presence and ability to provide services throughout the nation are extended through a network of HHD associates and certified trainers affiliated with specific projects that take into account the different capacities and needs of large and small agencies; densely and sparsely populated areas; and the distinct habits, culture, language, and customs predominant in specific parts of the country.
