Working Nationally and Locally with Other Organizations
The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) was created in 2002 to provide states and communities with expertise and information on research-based practices that support their efforts to develop programs, implement interventions, and promote policies to prevent suicide. Since its inception, SPRC has worked closely with other established national, state, and local organizations in the field to extend its reach and to advance suicide prevention. SPRC has collaborated on projects with organizations such as:
- Council of Juvenile Correctional Administrators, to develop curricula for leadership on suicide prevention in correctional facilities
- Emergency Nurses Association, to develop emergency room posters and clinical guides to help medical staff assess patients who may be suicidal
- Suicide Prevention Action Network USA, to develop guides for stakeholders to engage the media around suicide prevention
- American Association of Suicidology, to develop trainings for clinicians and public health professionals
- Harvard Injury Control and Research Center, to develop online courses designed to advance a public health approach to suicide prevention for interested stakeholders
